Ever wonder what it takes to work out like a Brooks Beast? Join REI and Brooks for a weekly workout series led by Coach Danny Mackey of the Brooks Beasts Track Club. Each week, Danny will lead a workout designed specifically for runners of all skill levels with the help of one of the Brooks Beasts athletes. Learn why Danny recommends these exercises for his team and how you can incorporate them into your routine to specifically help with running performance. You’ll also learn modifications and have the chance to ask Danny anything in a post workout Q&A.

Packing List: Water, towel and a mat! If you want a weight option, grab a medicine ball or some dumbbells, it's not required to do the workout. Water jugs or cans can also be a substitute for weights.
Coach Danny Mackey joined Brooks as the Head Coach of the Brooks Beasts Track Club in 2013 and has been involved in coaching athletes since 2004. One key trait to his coaching is the focus on progression of athletes and the development of a positive team culture. Mackey holds a master’s degree in exercise physiology with a publication in biomechanics from Colorado State University (CSU) and a certificate as a pedorthist.
Nia Akins is the newest Brooks Beast joining the team in June of 2020. Akins is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a degree in nursing and nutrition. She currently holds the second-best indoor 800m time in NCAA history (2:00:71) and holds two runner-up titles in the 800m.
